Calls for more reforms to home buying process

The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp) has called on the government to extend the recently introduced reforms of the home buying process.
Home information packs (Hips) are now compulsory purchases for anyone looking to sell a property with three or more bedrooms in England or Wales, but the Ahipp suggests that the scheme should include homes of all sizes.
Making its case, the association points out that there are now some 5,000 domestic energy assessors, who it insists are fully-qualified and ready to play their part in improving the home buying process in the UK.
"For Hips to do their job properly they need to be rolled out to all properties up and down chains of transactions," said Mike Ockenden, director general of the Ahipp.
"Not only will this speed up home buying and selling for all consumers, but it is fair for all," he added.
Earlier this month, Alan Greenspan, the former chief of the US Federal Reserve told the Telegraph that property prices in the UK are bound to start falling at some point and that rising inflation could soon be a problem across the country.
