Comedy club Jongleurs to list on AIM
Thu, 13 Oct 2011, 07:29:00
Comedy club operator
Jongleurs
is planning to list in London within the next 18 months. The company, which operates 19 clubs in cities across the country, aims to raise £500,000 in a private placement before launching an initial public offering (IPO) on AIM. Jongleurs hopes to have 30 clubs up and running by 2014. It also wants to expand overseas and launch a television channel. "To keep a hold on all areas of expansion, we need to work with someone who understands our potential," said chief executive Maria Kempinska. "That's why we have approached specific investors. It can be hard for some in the City to understand our business." She set up Jongleurs in Battersea, London, in 1983, helping to launch up-and-coming comics such as Rory Bremner and Harry Enfield. --- RG
