Chief executive of low-rills airline
EasyJet
expects the consumer environment will be difficult for the aviation industry next year.
Andy Harrison said the industry will face a "very tough" consumer environment next year, adding that airlines will face higher fuel costs as the dollar strengthens against the euro.
Speaking at a press conference briefing, he said carriers that did not have cash to pay the costs may not survive.
Harrison added that there were no plans to cancel the contract for the new planes it had placed with Airbus as it still aims to increase the number of planes to 200 by 2011.
On Monday, Easyjet said 4.2m passengers flew with the airline during September, compared with around 3.4m in September last year.
The airline's load factor - how full its planes were - climbed to 86.9% from 85.
