The need for young people to have insurance has been highlighted by a recent study, which revealed that teenagers are worth an average of almost £500 each time they step out the door.
Conducted by Allianz, the study fund that teenagers are carrying nearly £50 more of possessions than they did last year. This is due to their clothes they wear and the gadgets they carry with them.
Furthermore, young people are also tending to carry more cash with them, although the average value of their mobile handsets has actually been shown to have decreased.
Andy James of Allianz Your Cover commented: “Young people are carrying more expensive belongings than ever before. Our research shows this figure is going up every year - over the course of two years the amount of cash teenagers are carrying has increased from £42 to £89.
"We are encouraging teenagers and their parents to do what they can to prevent theft outside of the home. Being vigilant when out, mindful of personal safety and only carrying essential items, can all help to reduce the risk of items being lost or stolen."
