Shopping around could save consumers £1,824 a year
30/03/2005

New research by Sainsbury's Bank and Moneyfacts has revealed that consumers could save an average of £1,824 by spring-cleaning their finances.

The research suggests that, by looking around for the best deals when it comes to car insurance, credit cards, mortgages and personal loans, they could make considerable savings.

Furthermore, it found that consumers were increasingly switched-on to the possibility of better deals.

Moneyfacts' web editor Emma Butler disclosed that the recent poll showed "that 88 per cent of consumers are planning to switch credit card providers this year [and] 84 per cent plan to take out a personal loan and 41 per cent plan to move house".

Joanne Mallon, the car insurance manager at Sainsbury's Bank, added: "Spending a little time shopping around for your car insurance could save you hundreds of pounds a year in lower premiums."

She went on: "You don't even have to sacrifice the quality of cover as you can often increase this while reducing your premiums. Indeed, our car insurance offers some of the best cover available at some of the most competitive rates."
