Loans funding thousands of weddings
29/02/2008

Many thousands of couples around the UK have used a loan to fund their wedding expenses, a new report has made clear.

It is anticipated that over the course of this year close to 125,000 loans, with an average value of almost £9,300, will be taken out to be used as wedding-related finance.

And according to the estimates of Sainsbury's Bank, the collective value of loans being used for this purpose will be around £1.16 billion during 2008.

Meanwhile, women around the country are expected to take advantage of the 'Leap Day' tradition and propose to their boyfriends on February 29th.

In related news, research by esure has found that the typical British married couple now spends almost three times as much on their honeymoon than was the case in during the 1980s.

The insurance firm also reports that more and more newly-weds from the UK are heading abroad for their honeymoon.
