New research has shown that 67 per cent of Brits prefer to manage their money using online banking.
The survey from the Payments Council found that a quarter of people check their bank account online on a daily basis and two in five check it once a week as a minimum.
The study also found that people are becoming more trusting of online banking, with 79 per cent of respondents saying that they are confident carrying out transactions online. Those aged between 25 and 34 are particularly comfortable with online systems, with 89 per cent saying they are confident using internet banking.
Just 28 per cent prefer to visit a bricks-and-mortar bank to manage their money and 12 per cent still visit their branch at least once a week.
The Payments Council is running a Pay YOUR Way campaign to raise awareness of the various payment methods available.
Sandra Quinn from the Pay YOUR Way campaign said, "We all lead busy lives and managing your money online is a great and safe way of saving valuable time, while being able to keep an eye on our finances as often as we like."
She added, “But we must not forget that many people are still new to online banking and especially amongst the older generations, there are still a lot of people who are yet to benefit from it.”
