After the latest AA British Insurance Premium Index showed the biggest-ever jump upward in the cost of UK
car insurance premiums in the last three months of 2009,
AXA has launched a product aimed specifically at experienced drivers.
AXA Car Insurance offers motorists up to 90 per cent no claims discount – the highest level available in the market. It's available to any driver who has been claim-free for eight years or more.
Other perks of the new
car insurance product include a courtesy car in instances of fire and theft and £1 million Driver Injury Cover, which protects against medical costs and loss of earnings for motorists injured in an accident that is their fault, for an extra £34.99 per year.
"Experienced drivers make up well over a third of the driving population. We want to show them that their experience counts with a great product and price," said
AXA Insurance's Tina Shortle. "At a time when prices are rising sharply in this market, we felt that drivers with a proven track record deserved more."
Research by
AXA highlights that seasoned motorists are considerably less likely to make a claim than those with under eight years' experience.
