A Gocompare.com survey shows that those who buy car insurance online feel the most well informed on the subject.
According to the survey, 42 per cent of drivers feel that taking out an insurance policy over the internet has given them a better understanding of the subject, and that 11 per cent have only used the internet, eschewing brokers or getting a quote over the phone.
Gocompare spokesman Lee Griffin said that “It’s great to see that UK customers now feel much more knowledgeable about the car insurance they buy.” He felt that online resources have given our motorists “a much greater understanding and awareness of cover levels and excesses.”
Now is a good time for British drivers to be better informed, especially those buying their first car, as the last few years have seen record highs in premiums and new drivers now have to pay twice as much to insure their car as they would last year. They also have to consider the new Continuous Insurance Policy, which forbids the possession of any uninsured vehicle that is not officially declared ‘off the road’, regardless of how often it is used.
