Student current account on offer from Halifax
July 15, 2011
By Mark Warner

A “generous” student current account is on offer from Halifax to young people heading to university this September.

The facility is available to new and existing current account customers from 18 August of this year and provides students with the best available interest free overdraft on the market. For up to five years and an extra year after graduation students have the possibility of £3,000 cash interest free.

They will also benefit from a convenient Visa debit card, commission-free foreign exchange and travellers cheques and a 25 per cent discount on AA breakdown cover. Meanwhile, students will be able to keep tabs on their finances through 24 hour telephone and online banking services.

Jeremy Cross, director of personal current accounts at the bank, commented, "The Halifax Student Current Account continues to offer students real long term value as an alternative to up front offers. With one of the most generous interest free overdrafts available, the potential savings over a three or four year degree are considerable."

Last year was the fourth consecutive year during which Halifax was voted the Best Student Banking Provider by Your Money.
