US stocks rediscovered early strength to close with good gains, having dipped around midday. Economic news boosted sentiment. Productivity increased by 6.9% in the fourth quarter, figures showed, demonstrating that employers are squeezing the most out of employees, while freezing or cutting wages. February retail sales were also better than forecast. First-time unemployment claims fell by 29,000 to 469,000 last week. Data showing pending home sales fell by 7.6% in January was less well received. The Dow Jones gained 47 points to close at 10,444, the S&P 500 climbed 4 to higher at 1,122 and the tech-heavy NASDAQ closed 11 points higher at 2,292. Bank of America raised <b>Walt Disney</b> from neutral to buy. The move was sparked by new film releases Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3. Clothing retailer <b>Abercrombie & Fitch</b> reported a 5% increase in February like-for-like sales. This made it the biggest riser in the S&P 500. Fellow fashion chain <b>Urban Outfitters</b> also posted good gains, after a large jump in quarterly profits. Elsewhere in retail, <b>Target</b>, which sells clothes, electronics and furniture, climbed after reporting a 2.4% rise in like-for-like sales in February. <b>S&P 500 - Risers</b> Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) $41.52 +14.57% Family Dollar Stores (FDO) $35.24 +8.07% American International Group Inc.
