Thu, 2 Sep 2010, 07:54:00
Global engineering business
Weir
is to expand its valves business through the purchase of family-owned Indian company BDK Engineering Industries . The business generated sales of £20.9m in the year to 31 March, 2010, manufacturing valves for the oil and gas, petrochemical and power markets. As at the end of March BDK had gross assets of £16.7m. "BDK's range of valves will enhance our global customer offering and its Indian sales network will provide an additional route to market for many of our existing products," said Keith Cochrane, chief executive of Weir. BDK's founder, Bharat Khimji, and his sons will be remaining with the company to ensure a smooth transition to the new ownership. The cost of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
