The journey to and from work is when motorists are most likely to have a minor accident, new research has revealed.
Car insurance company Swinton recently carried out a poll of some 1,200 drivers to establish when they are most at risk from such incidents.
According to the findings, around 60 per cent of respondents had been in a minor crash with another vehicle on their way to work.
The school run was another hazardous time for UK motorists, with nine per cent saying they had collided with another car during the busy period.
Some eight per cent of those questioned said they had bumped or scraped their vehicle in a multi-storey car park, while one in five had similar experiences in supermarket parking areas.
Steve Chelton, Insurance Development Manager at Swinton, said such incidents are "inevitable", which highlights the importance of adequate
car insurance.
"They can also have a big impact on no claims bonuses, if not protected, so motorists often opt to pay for the damage out of their own pocket so they can make longer term savings," he said.
